Hotkeys Used to Reset a Pokemon Game on 3DS Citra Emulator
You can reset a 3DS Pokemon game on Citra using your keyboard or a controller.
Warning: We tested the following hotkeys on both PC and Android. The hotkeys worked fine on PC, but the game freezes when tried on Android.
We used the Citra MMJ, and it’s not optimized for phones that use MALI GPUs. If you have an Android device with a Snapdragon processor, let us know if you encountered the same problem.
Keyboard Hotkeys
For the PC keyboard, you can reset your Pokemon game by pressing all the following buttons at the same time:
Q + W + M + N
Pressing those keys will prompt an soft reset, which means that you will return to the game’s start screen. But if you want to fully restart your game through the emulator, press F6.
Controller Hotkey
If you use a type of controller, press the following buttons at the same time:
Shoulder Buttons L and R + Start + Select
The hotkey for the controller is basically the same as the Q + W + M + N hotkey for the keyboard. It will also prompt your game to return to the start screen.
How About Restarting Your Progress for a Pokemon Game?
If what you meant by resetting is deleting a saved progress in-game so you can start a new one, here’s a method for doing just that:
Step 1: Load your game on Citra.
Step 2: Once you’re on the game’s start screen, press B + X + Directional Up Button at the same time. For the keyboard, press S + Z + T.
Step 3: The game will ask for your confirmation to delete all saved data twice. If you’re 100% decided on deleting the game’s current save file, keep on selecting yes.
Step 4: You will return to the game’s language selection screen, and from there, you can create a new game.
Warning: Erasing a saved game is an irreversible process, so you won’t be able to recover anything from it after starting a new game.

Can the hotkeys be used for non-Pokemon 3DS games?
Apparently, the hotkeys we shared only work on the mainline Pokemon games. We tried them on other games like Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon, but nothing has happened so far.
Do the hotkeys work on iOS?
No, and it won’t be possible because Citra only works for Windows, Android, Mac, and Linux devices. If you’re an iOS , you can try the Limon emulator, but as of writing this article, it’s not available for on their official website.
Do the hotkeys work on the actual 3DS console?
We don’t own a 3DS console, as it’s long been removed from the video game market years ago. But still, if you have one, try if the hotkey for the controller works.
