An all-out brawl between titans! All pseudo-legendary Pokemon ranked! Who will come out on top?

While Pokemon is a well-balanced game with an ever-changing META, not all Pokemon are created equally. There are literal gods like legendaries and Magikarp-level mons.

Moreover, there’s a handful of special and extremely powerful Pokemon that blur the line between normal and legendary Pokemon—Pseudo-Legendaries.

These Pokemon have always been in the overused tier of every generation. This is no surprise due to their monstrous stats compared to average Pokemon.

But how do they stack up against each other? In this article, we’ll feature all pseudo-legendary Pokemon ranked, from weakest to strongest.

What Are Pseudo-Legendary Pokemon?

Pseudo-legendaries are Pokemon that aren’t Legendaries but are insanely strong. The term was created by players and it refers to Pokemon that meet these criteria:

  • A base stat total of 600 (before mega evolution)
  • The final evolution of a 3-stage evolutionary line
  • Requires 1,250,000 experience points to reach level 100.

Due to their high stats, they are more powerful than non-legendaries and Mythical Pokemon. However, they can be hard to raise and take more levels to evolve.

There are currently 10 pseudo-legendary Pokemon (11 if you include the regional form, Hisuian Goodra).

We ranked the 10 pseudo-legendaries from weakest to strongest in of battling strength and how they performed in the games.

To make it fair, we did not include the feats they did in the anime. We also excluded their megas, Z-moves, and regional forms, as not all pseudos have access to those.

10. Goodra

Pseudo-legendary pokemon - goodra

Being last on our list doesn’t mean our friendly dragon is a pushover mon. However, as a pseudo-legendary, Goodra really fails to play the part.

Goodra can be a great special tank and will put a stop to most special attackers. It also has access to Sap Sipper and base 100 Attack and 150 Special Defense, making it a great counter to Celebi while being able to deal considerable damage.

However, it doesn’t really have much on its arsenal after that.  It has a relatively low speed and lacks reliable recovery options. You can set up Hydration and rain, but that’s a ton of work which doesn’t amount to anything game-changing.

In other words, Goodra is a gentle giant who comes short in many areas, getting outperformed by its competition in roles it could fill.

9. Kommo-o

Pseudo-legendary pokemon - kommo-o

Kommo-o features a unique mix of Dragon and Fighting types with a wide array of moves, allowing it to gain a special role on many teams.

It has a nice stat spread and physical bulk. But what makes Kommo-o a real threat is its access to Clangorous Soul.

Clangorous Soul paired with Throat Spray makes Kommo-o better than Goodra and becomes unstoppable if the opponent is unprepared.

Other than that, he’s quite mediocre for a pseudo-legendary with tons of weaknesses and 4x damage from Fairy-type moves.

8. Metagross

Pseudo-legendary pokemon - metagross

We know that some of you expected Metagross to be higher on the list, but let me explain. While Meteor Mash, Bullet Punch, and Earthquake go really well with Metagross making him a great physical attacker, he gets overshadowed by a certain medieval Pokemon.

Though they have the same weaknesses, Aegislash’s Stance Change makes it a jack-of-all-trades and is picked more often than Metagross who fell off in the recent METAs unless it mega-evolves.

7. Hydreigon

Pseudo-legendary pokemon - hydreigon

The three-headed dragon had the potential of being an unstoppable sweeper, and it would have ranked way higher.

Hydreigon has access to Nasty Plot, Draco Meteor, Dark Pulse, and Flash Cannon.

It would have been an all-time great special sweeper if only it were given 3 more points in Speed instead. As much as we loved Hydreigon, it would lose to other sweepers like Salamence and Latios.

You can run a Choice Scarf build on it. But then, there’s Sylveon—the nightmare of the mightiest of dragons. One Moonblast from this Fairy-type and Hydreigon will turn to Hydrei-gone.

6. Tyranitar

Pseudo-legendary pokemon - tyranitar

Tyranitar isn’t the most effective pseudo-legendary Pokemon in today’s META. However, we cannot rank Tyranitar lower simply because of its world-renowned legacy of dominating the OU for seven entire generations.

While Tyranitar fell off in the latest metagame, it was an absolute monster in the previous generations.

Tyranitar’s typing and massive move pool makes it a very versatile Pokemon with the offensive power and bulk to back it up.

If you don’t have an answer to this Godzilla, prepare to lose at least half of your team to it. Sometimes, Tyranitar’s Sand Stream ability is all you need from him.

5. Salamence

Pseudo-legendary pokemon - salamence

Now we’re getting to the real game-changers. Salamence is one of the pseudo-legendary Pokemon that deserves such distinction.

Salamence is like better physical version of Hydreigon. Thanks to its 100 base speed and access to Moxie, it’s one of the deadliest sweepers around.

Moves like Fire Blast, Draco Meteor, Dragon Claw, Hurricane, and Earthquake make him an all-around attacker.

However, it also has 4x weakness to Ice-type moves due to its type combination.  It’s a high-risk, high-reward sweeper that can dominate under the right circumstances.

4. Garchomp

Pseudo-legendary pokemon - garchomp

Garchomp is my favorite pseudo-legendary Pokemon due to its consistent performance since Gen 4.

With its high attack, speed, and decent bulk, Garchomp can be a threat in any battle. His STAB moves like Earthquake and Stone Edge give you decent neutral damage when you need it the most.

Garchomp can also set hazards with Stealth Rock and set up with Swords Dance. It’s also the only dragon in this list that can stand up to Fairy types by undergoing a Steel-type Terastallization.

If only Garchomp had access to Dragon Dance, it would undoubtedly be number one.

3. Dragonite

Pseudo-legendary pokemon - dragonite

Dragonite may look as friendly as Goodra, but don’t let its cuteness fool you, as it can annihilate entire teams when left unchecked.

Give it a Multiscale ability plus a Heavy-Duty Boots for a safe switch in, then one Dragon Dance is all it needs to wreak havoc.

Extreme Speed is a +2 priority move and a staple on Dragonite. Other than that, its kit is very unpredictable. You can run Earthquake, Ice Spinner, Fire Punch, Outrage, or Scale Shot with this guy.

Dragonite can literally 1v6 if it gets to set up a few Dragon Dances. Not so cuddly now, eh?

2. Baxcalibur

Pseudo-legendary pokemon - baxcalibur

Baxcalibur is one of the newer pseudo-legendary Pokemon and it will definitely have its share of the spotlight.

Baxcalibur’s unique typing of Dragon/Ice eliminates the weakness from Ice-types and it also has access to powerful STAB moves like Glaive Rush and Icicle Spear.

You can’t just mindlessly hit Baxcalibur with super effective Fire-type moves as its ability Thermal Exchange increases this Pokemon’s attack when hit by a fire move.

With a whopping 145 Attack, Baxcalibur’s raw power makes it stand out amongst other pseudos.

1. Dragapult

Pseudo-legendary pokemon - dragapult

At the top of the pseudo-legendary food chain stands Dragapult. This Pokemon is just so good at every aspect that I’m having trouble describing it.

Its base 145 speed allows the Pokemon to dance around most opponents. Dragapult also has access to Hex, Thunder Wave, and Will-O-Wisp.

You can also run Draco Meteor or Dragon Darts with it. This combination makes Dracapult an S-tier pivot who can spread status and deal significant damage over the course of the battle.

Its ability Infiltrator means that you can by any defensive setups your opponent tries.
Overall, Dragapult is an irritating and lethal force who needs an immediate answer, or else it’ll destroy your team.

Conclusion: Pseudo-Legendary Pokemon Ranked

That’s all the pseudo-legendary Pokemon ranked from weakest to strongest.

Don’t get us wrong, all of them are really strong and cannot be compared to normal Pokemon. That’s why the difficulty of catching and raising them is well worth it.
